Service Description

Our drawing instructor Karen will review the basic principals of "seeing and drawing" to create forms using shape, contour lines, and value/shading, then explore the basics of composition and perspective. Class will include fun exercises using different perspectives in order to manipulate solid shapes and increase student understanding of how to see objects as having volume and depth. Next she'll focus in on how to compose a scene that uses space and perspective to create a pleasing composition. Both photos and still life items may be used in class. Beginners welcome, you do not have to have taken any previous classes to jump into this one. Materials List: -Drawing pencils of your choice (please bring a set that includes pencils of varying hardness. They may include graphite and charcoal. If you took Karen's first class, Drawing Fundamentals: Seeing and Drawing at KIFA, the materials you have are fine. If you'd like recommendations, please reach out and we'll send some suggestions!) -sketchbook -kneaded eraser -pencil sharpener -photo of a subject you would like to draw, printed out on paper, at least 5x7 -ruler -tape (masking or scotch)
