It's Official! Art Makes Us Happy

I love the idea that art is a story. We all

have a web of connections and experiences

that bring meaning to the art we see.

Sometimes the connection is in a color scheme, a particular view, or a tiny detail.

Someone's response to art is innately personal and the story a piece tells may be different from one person to another.

There is something very satisfying about creating artwork that makes people smile. Or brings people to tears or laughter, and on very special occasions, both. When people view my work I want them to connect. Maybe they are thinking of a time they stood looking up at the trunk of a grand old tree or patted the soft nose of their own goofy dog. I want to make art that makes people happy. I certainly wouldn't be happy without it.
